COUCH KEEPS MOVING
What do I need to keep my couch from sliding?

Try this first
- Vacuum or wipe the floor where the feet sit.
- Clean dust or felt residue from the couch feet.
- Make sure loose or damaged feet are tightened.
- Add grippers sized to the feet and rated for your floor type.
Rubber grippers vs. felt pads
Felt is useful when you want furniture to slide more easily without scratching. It is usually the opposite of what you want for a couch that already moves too much. For unwanted sliding, look for a grippy rubber or silicone surface that is appropriate for finished floors.
If you use a rug
A rug that is too small can make the couch unstable because only some feet sit on it. If a rug is part of the room, use a rug pad sized to the rug and arrange the furniture so the feet sit consistently.
Measure the feet before buying grippers
Furniture grippers work best when the couch foot sits fully on the pad. Measure the width and shape of each foot. If the couch has broad rails rather than distinct feet, look for a product made for that contact style instead of balancing the rail on tiny pads.
If the couch still moves
Check whether people are pushing against the floor with their feet when they sit, whether reclining hardware shifts the center of gravity, and whether the floor slopes slightly. In some rooms, anchoring the seating arrangement with a large rug and proper rug pad works better than treating each couch leg separately.
Avoid fixes that trade sliding for floor damage
Do not glue the couch to the floor, use unknown adhesive tape on a finished surface, or place gritty material under the legs. The fix should add friction without scratching, staining, or trapping moisture against the floor.
Quick questions
Will felt pads stop a couch from sliding?
Usually not. Felt is designed to reduce friction so furniture moves more easily. A sliding couch usually needs more grip, not less.
Can I use rug gripper under couch feet?
A purpose-made furniture gripper is usually easier to size and safer to evaluate for the floor. If the couch sits on a rug, a proper rug pad may help the whole setup.
